Jay Strandjord takes pride in helping clients cut through complex disputes with deft and sharpened advocacy. Whether it’s heated discovery, high-stakes trials, or intricate appeals, Jay enjoys the challenge of fighting for the underdog. His years of experience in district and appellate courts gives Jay a seasoned understanding of the innerworkings of the courtroom.
Though a Minnesota native, Jay first honed his legal skills in Colorado where he clerked at the Court of Appeals and Supreme Court before representing clients at a large Western law firm in business litigation, employment, shareholder disputes, and appeals. After returning to Minnesota, Jay served as a judicial clerk for Magistrate Judge Becky R. Thorson in the United States District Court of Minnesota before joining our firm.
In addition to his civil practice, Jay is passionate about justice. His work in criminal law began before law school as an intern for the Missouri State Public Defender, helping indigent and low-income clients, and continued through law school, as he interned at the United States Attorney’s Office and United States Department of Justice. In 2015, he won the National Smith-Doheny Legal Ethics Award for his essay on the wrongful conviction of Alton Logan.
When Jay is not helping clients, he spends his time biking with his family. His only claim to fame is that Buzz Aldrin once rode in his car.
