Ginny McCalmont is a litigator with on-her-feet experience in trial and appellate courts around the country. She has handled every stage in the lifecycle of a case—from inception to appeal—including drafting pleadings and briefs, taking and defending depositions, arguing dispositive motions, leading mediations, examining witnesses at trial, and presenting appellate arguments. Tenacious and detail-focused, Ginny is particularly skilled at mastering the technical aspects of cases and is often called on to work with expert witnesses. Clients love her thoughtfulness, responsiveness, and infectious enthusiasm for her work.
Ginny maintains an active pro bono practice and has been appointed by the U.S. Courts of Appeals for the Eighth and Ninth Circuits to represent plaintiffs in civil-rights cases. In 2019, she received Attorney of the Year honors for her role as co-lead counsel in a case whose settlement received international press coverage, including in the New York Times, the Washington Post, the Independent, and The Guardian, among others.
Ginny received her J.D. from Yale Law School, where she was an editor of the Yale Law Journal, an executive board member of Yale Law Women, a Coker Fellow, and a member of the Veterans Legal Services Clinic. Before entering private practice, she clerked for federal trial and appellate judges.
